You ain’t a beauty but hey your alright

The Series III has been “in country” for a few weeks now. Things are mostly going quite well – its a real head turner. In fact, if your on this site its probably because you saw it driving around…

Tonight the new plates and the mount of the hi-lift jack arrived. I’m pretty please with how it all come together.

What do you think? Drop me a comment here or on twitter @nickdawson – where’d you see the truck?

That is a terrible place for a hi lift jack. It reduces your approach angle, and your first trip off road will likely damage the jack, mounts, and bumper. Not to mention the added injury and liability to you that it will cause if you hit anyone or anything.
  • Hey dave - thanks for the input - I've been worried about that myself. It was the only feasible place outside of the truck to mount it, but I am reconsidering. I agree that it would not help in an accident, although Im not sure its more dangerous per se... but I have to counter all of that with the thought that a series rover isn't going to do anyone any favors in a wreck.

In terms of off road performance, I think that will be an issue... maybe the short term solution is to throw it in the bed before hitting the trail and just use the bumper to carry it. I see a lot of other series rovers with them mounted there, so maybe they know something I dont.

Thanks again - I'll keep you posted if I figure out a better solution.
